Our Journey

Problem Solving

SmartList addresses multiple real-world challenges:

Eliminates manual expense tracking with automated systems
Provides price intelligence without third-party API dependencies
Enables seamless collaboration for families and groups
Offers location-based insights without external geocoding services

Project Motivation

The idea arose from real-world experience in a shared living environment with fourteen people. Coordinating groceries, expenses, and finances using spreadsheets and informal notes regularly caused confusion and disputes.

Existing mobile apps offered task organization but lacked a straightforward way to manage shopping lists and household expenses together. This gap inspired SmartList's creation.

SmartList also addresses local shopping practices common in the South Asian region, where people shop at local stores and settle bills monthly rather than paying immediately. The app's customer-shop linking feature supports clearer expense tracking and helps speed up the delivery process, making it especially valuable for large households and community shopping.
